Delightful Service

We met online, chatted a few times, then decided to meet for a little dinner. She was nice, we made small talk while waiting for the server. The server arrived and took our orders. After that, she seemed distracted. I tried to make the best of it but it became clear that she was more interested in the server than me. Awkward, to say the least, since the server was a woman.

Please tell me what he was thinking

I worked at a gas station. Not classy, but I make a honest living. This guy came in almost every day and flirted with me, eventually asking me on dates. I always said no and gave some excuse. He was cute; brown, doe eyes, brown hair, pale skin and owned his own business(not that I was a gold digger or anything), but something kept telling me to say no. One day, my manager caught him asking me out and she started yelling, telling him to “stop harassing her cashiers!” I thought the manager was just being bitter, but still denied all requests to go on a date with him, as usual. Just when you think you’ve heard it all

Just when you think you’ve heard it all… that you’ve met your universal quota for horrifying and bizarre dates you find that it truly can always be worse. While not easily shocked by anything anymore I give it to this guy, he wins hands down. While initially mortified by the situation I vowed to never tell anyone this story. However, I’ve thought it through… and I think the world should know.

Consequences of Suspending Snobbery!

I’ve been playing the dating game of late. Out of curiosity I joined a dating site called ‘Oasis’. I like to have several conversations before committing to a face-to-face meeting (in order to get a sense of his personality and motives). Two weeks ago I found myself accepting a date after the first conversation. It was a Friday afternoon, he asked me my plans and for some reason I erred on the side of caution and agreed to meet him that evening.

James chose the pub we were to meet at. ‘The Shakey’ he called it, which I work out to be the Shakespeare Hotel near Central Station (although further by foot than I thought). We are to meet at 6pm but I am running late and still sitting on a bus. The traffic moves slowly. It turns out there are city road closures due to the Sydney Festival. I call to let him know. It’s all good.

Popcorn Madness

I went out with a guy to see a movie at the movie theater. He came from out of town to stay with me for a couple of weeks. We both were excited to see each other for this amount of time. We got to the theater, got our tickets, drinks, and popcorn. We sat down, snacking on our pop corn, and the movie started. At about 10 minutes into the movie I was snacking on my popcorn not realizing I had swallowed it wrong. I began to choke so loudly, dry heaving, and coughing. It was so bad it was to the point I really needed heimlich maneuver performed on me.

His Name Should Have Been Bob Villa

To begin, I’d like to point out that this experience was extremely atypical for me. I only mention this to clarify to the readers that I am neither suicidal or prone to extreme lapses in judgment. I think you’ll see why I feel the need to express this as the story unfolds. To help out I’ve marked my screw-ups in the story as follows (!). Enjoy!

Too drunk to be sneaky

It all started like many bad dates do… from an online dating site. This girl and I emailed back and forth a few times, went on to the phone call and everything seemed to be going well. We decided to meet at a local brewery/restaurant, and that’s when things started to go down hill.

Rehabbed accountant turned nightmare reconcilliation

We’ll call him Sam. Sam was/is an accountant. “Sam the Accountant” is a guy I “dated” a few years back, and I use this term “dated” loosely as it was more of a rebound-and-needing-a-warm-body (hey, I hear admitting is the FIRST step, so shoot me, I’m honest). Sam the Accountant was the roommate of a good friend of mine. He was smart, attractive enough, and came with a fun group of friends which was just what I needed after the breakup of the century. I’m going to leave out the gory details however the basic gist was that it was a casual thing and I wasn’t attached; I was however, in an incredibly tender state of heart.

Your gut instinct is usually right

I know, it’s silly, but a friend of mine convinced me to join a dating site. I have been pretty willing to meet people but have always made it known to them that we would only be friends, and if someday something more ended up happening that would be fine. So this guy emails me on a daily basis. I am clearly not interested in him but I feel that he deserves to at least have a response.

A tall tail? Not quite.

I had been dating this guy for quite a few months, and how I did not notice this previously still eludes me. It was the 4th of July, and we had had an amazing, romantic evening. When we got back to my apartment, we spent some time in the shower.
